Our Story
We're a team of passionate individuals determined to change the world one cloth diaper at a time. Our mission is to bring clean, reusable cloth diapers to economically disadvantaged families across the United States and military families overseas.
The Rebecca Foundation's Cloth Diaper Closet opened its doors in August 2012. Inspired by a simple question — "Mommy, why don't all the babies wear cloth diapers?" — from a bright and aware 9-year-old girl, the closet was born. Driven by the desire to provide for those in need, today the closet strives to meet the ever-growing need of families faced with the choice between food and diapers.
By providing clean, reusable cloth diapers to families who cannot afford the continued cost of disposable diapers or the initial startup cost associated with switching full-time to cloth diapers, we ease the expense by loaning diapers for a period of one year. This allows families to save a significant amount of personal funds each month. When families have been able to purchase their own supply of cloth diapers, they return their loan so another family may benefit.

Founder's Story
The idea for The Rebecca Foundation was sparked from the mind of my eldest daughter, Rebecca, who could not understand why every family did not use cloth diapers. After explaining that the cost to get started with cloth diapering may not be affordable for all families, Rebecca blurted out, "You know mom, you should really do something about that."
I took that seemingly small idea from an inquisitive 8-year-old girl and paired it with the desire to make a positive change. Having personally gone through the experience of having an extremely tight budget, a child in diapers, being on government assistance, and trying to make ends meet on a single income — I knew firsthand the impact of removing a major cost item from our budget. This experience proved invaluable to many families in the local Knoxville, TN community where I began in August 2012.
I began with the hopes of helping to change my local community, and I was surprised with the amount of requests for help from individuals outside of the Knoxville area. Within just a few short weeks I made the decision to expand my efforts in order to help as many of those families that reached out to me as I could. I began shipping diaper care packages from my own funds, without requiring families to pay program or shipping fees.
