June is cloth awareness month which is a campaign started to help break the stigma surrounding cloth diapers. It’s purpose is to help teach the world one family at a time, that today’s cloth diapers are simple, safe, environmentally responsible, easy to use and come in an array of colors or patterns.  We truly believe that regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, economic background or geographic location that anyone can cloth diaper.

By supporting this campaign we will be able to provide our Cloth for All Ambassadors the educational literature, cloth diaper examples in order to teach classes on proper use/care of cloth diapers therefore dispelling myths surrounding modern cloth diapers, ensuring #cloth4all.

As today’s cloth diaper ‘aren’t your grandmother’s cloth diapers!”

Dear <><>
As a concerned citizen of this country the [your title] of [your chapter name], and an organizing partner The Rebecca Foundation’s Cloth Diaper Closet, I would like to request that you j along with other mayors, representatives, senators, governors, civic and social leaders from across the United States, issue a proclamation in recognizing June 9, 2016 as Cloth for All Day and June 5-11, 2016 as Cloth Diaper Awareness Week in [city/state].

Each year, over 7.6 Billion pounds of disposable diapers fill our landfills with 5 million tons of untreated human waste, preserved forever, and polluting nearby water systems. With nearly 90% of American babies using 28 Billion single use diapers, that’s 4000 diapers per child, from birth to potty training.

1 in 2 babies born in the United States to a low income families who are unable to afford the ever growing cost of single use diapers as they are not covered under any government assistance program. Modern cloth diapers have become a cost saving, eco-friendly, reusable alternative to single use disposable diapers. Families can utilize as little as 12 cloth diapers from birth to potty training for multiple children for many years.

June 9th is a day to show diversity, among parents who cloth diaper, no matter how their family was formed, social status, geographic location, sexual orientation, marital status, race, ethnic background, political stand or economic status.

Volunteers are joining The Rebecca Foundation to promote June 9th as Cloth for All Day and June 5th-11th as Cloth Diaper Awareness Week. These efforts will improve widespread understanding of modern cloth diapers and how invaluable they are to all families.

I am enclosing a sample proclamation, and for more about The Rebecca Foundation’s Cloth Diaper Closet please visit www.clothforall.com. If you agree to participate, I will issue a press release to our local media and coordinate media coverage of a proclamation presentation.

I will call your office in a few days to further discuss the proclamation and answer any questions you may have. Thank you in advance for your consideration and approval or our request. Your help will be instrumental in bringing awareness, and untiring [city/state]

Sincerely,
[ Your Name]
